Steps In Making A Bolster Pillow
These are the following steps:
Step #1. Cutting off your bolster fabric
Measure your desired measurements of your bolster pillow, such as; diameter, length, and width.
First, by cutting the fabric for the perimeter of your bolster pillow in a rectangular shape, please leave at least half an inch of seam allowance on the sides.
Also, you can use a plate with at least 25 inches in diameter for making the bolster form.
Wrap it around the pad with the other side of it facing out after removing the freshly cut piece of cloth for your reinforcement pillow.
Keep the centre open at least 10 inches so that you have easy access to install the bolster after you finish the cover.
Make sure all the ends of the seam are secure with pins.
On either side of the bolster pillow shape, cut off the excess fabric, and follow the pin. And sew the pin lines at this stage, and remove all of those pins once you’re all done.
Tip: You can also use some old fabrics of bed sheets or some table linens for the cover of your bolster pillow.
Step #3.Sew all the trim edges
In this stage, you will now flip the fabric out of the bolster pillow to the right side facing it, and please make sure that you flip it correctly.
There should be raw ends facing in one direction.
Find at which ends meet and cut all of that, overlapping with half an inch, ensuring that you give enough space for seam allowance.
Pin all those raw edges together when the other end of the bolster pillow does the same thing again. Sew where the material meets and remove all of the pins around it eventually.
The following procedure removes all of the pins in the bolster pillow form and sews them together.
Step #4.Sew the ends of the pillow cover
Take the other side of the cover of the bolster and insert it into the mould.
Pin a patch of circular cloth and attach it to the cover of the pillow and take note that you must ensure that all raw edges are facing out and tucked inside safely.
On the other side of the pillow, repeat all of that procedure.
After that, detach the cover; carefully sew them while double-checking both ends of the pillow.
Lastly, hold the bolster pillow cover and flip the cover carefully; after that, put the pillow form inside the body.
Step #5. Sew and close the openings
Sew the unsew endings of the opening inside and securely fold them automatically and pin all the excess fabric with one to two inches.
In the last step, you will need a needle and a thread to hand stitch all the closed seam, and next is to remove all the pins one by one while double-checking for any loose sew and threads.
Cut it off if you found any.
The 10 inches we left open at the body of your bolster pillow, you can either sew it permanently or consider putting a zipper.
